Spanish Division Coordinator Gerardo Laster
Gerardo
Laster was born in Argentina. He has lived in Argentina, Spain and the United
States. He received a bilingual education (English-Spanish)
from grammar school through high school. He received the finest Argentine technical
high-school education in Chemistry and Mechanics then moved into the Humanities,
finishing high school with a certificate in Education. He worked as a mechanical
engineer for several high-tech companies until he started studies at the University
of Buenos Aires, focusing then on Latin American Culture and Literature. He
has several awards for fiction writing in Spanish and he worked as a literary
critic for some of the leading newspapers in Argentina. As a journalist, he
traveled around Spain, England and the Ukraine writing pieces both on cultural
and political issues. Moreover, he acquired his translation experience working
as a freelancer for top companies and institutions from Argentina, and then
working in-house with leading translation and localization firms from Argentina
and the United States. He has strong experience in software localization and
QA, as well as the editing of documentation and software related material. His
experience in various fields and cultures uniquely equips him for his work as
coordinator.
